Wigan Supply Chain Experts Land Leading Role in £500M Housing Improvement Contract

July 2006

Supply chain technology experts Valueworks has beaten international competition to land a leading role in one of the North West's biggest ever housing improvement schemes.

Valueworks will manage and monitor the supply of all construction materials and contractors for a £500 million improvement programme funded by the GM Procure consortium of housing associations.

Valueworks, which has developed a unique e-procurement model, worked with GM Procure on an earlier contract to identify and secure procurement savings and has beaten competition from the likes of Deloitte and Savills to land the supply management contract.

The four-year programme is due to get underway in August and is expected to involve up to 100,000 homes across Manchester and other parts of the North West.

Valueworks Chief Executive Jeff Dandridge said: "Intelligent supply management can yield massive savings and we know from our earlier work with GM Procure that this is certainly the case here.

"We are a rapidly growing company because the systems we have developed put us years ahead of most larger, national supply management firms."

Valueworks were accredited by the ODPM's National Change Agent for Social Housing Works to provide services to social housing consortia in 2005, one of a string of recent honours.

It operates a 'closed loop' supply chain which gains and maximises savings in a continual cycle. The unique electronic programme will deliver 31% savings on overall property costs, significantly more than the original target of 10% set by GM Procure.

Valueworks has already worked with GM Procure, using complex sourcing criteria to choose suppliers. They will now monitor the actual delivery of whole house refurbishments over 65 supply chain partners.
